Styron today announced the launch of its new branched polycarbonate grade for polycarbonate sheet producers in Europe. The new resin allows extruders to produce heavier and more complex multi-wall sheets with enhanced thermal insulation properties.
A New Solution for the Building and Construction Industry
Styron is expanding its polycarbonate family with XZ 94260.00, a new experimental polycarbonate resin which will be commercialized at a later date as CALIBRE™ 603-2. XZ 94260.00 is designed to create multi-wall sheets that address some of the specific challenges faced by the building and construction industry.
With the arrival of XZ 94260.00, Styron can now offer extruders a solution for producing high quality multi-wall sheets with thicknesses up to 60 mm. These thicker sheets with an increased number of walls bring better mechanical properties and higher thermal insulation for more energy efficient buildings.
"Our customers do business with us because we help them solve their most complex material challenges," says Nicolas Joly, Global Marketing Manager for Sheet Extrusion. "Our new XZ 94260.00 polycarbonate resin enables our customers to create higher performance products that offer the building and construction market new perspectives in terms of thermal insulation and design."
Clear Benefits for Extruders and End-users
Extruders will welcome the excellent processability characteristics of the new XZ 94260.00 resin. Its melt strength is the highest currently available on the market, allowing for excellent calibration of very heavy and complex multi-wall sheets. Additionally, XZ 94260.00 offers outstanding surface aesthetics, thanks to its tailored composition.
