Styron has selected the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, area for its headquarters/Global Operations Center. Several office locations in the Philadelphia area are being considered. Styron’s Global Operations Center will employ 40-50 people, including executive management, finance and legal.
“The Philadelphia area is a great location for Styron,” said Chris Pappas, President and CEO of Styron. “It offers good travel connections to our global operations, customers and partners’ locations. And because the city and the surrounding areas offer a great quality of life, we will be able to attract and retain top talent for Styron.”
In addition, the company announced that its North America Operations Center (NAOC) will be based in Midland, Michigan, where several Styron research labs, a paper latex pilot coater and a number of Styron manufacturing units are located. The company expects to retain approximately 180 jobs in Midland.
To accommodate the NAOC, Styron has leased 8,400 square feet of office space in downtown Midland, which will include business management and functional services jobs, as well as Styron’s Customer Service group for North America. Styron’s total investment in the NAOC and other Midland facilities will be up to $13 million over the next five years.
"Midland will continue to be Styron’s largest location in the U.S.,” said Pappas. “Committing to office space in downtown Midland demonstrates how we’re continuing to invest in our presence in Midland.” Styron employees will begin moving into the downtown office space in the next two to three months.
The company has its other regional operations centers in Hong Kong; Sao Paulo, Brazil; and outside Zurich, Switzerland.
