Trinseo Plastics Create Exquisite Light And Bright Color Parts That Endure Time

MAGNUM™ ABS Resins are proven to be a high performance, cost-saving solution to coloring challenges

Hong Kong - Monday, October 30, 2017

Trinseo (NYSE: TSE), a global materials solutions provider and manufacturer of plastics, latex binders and synthetic rubber, manufactures MAGNUM™ ABS Resins that are preferred by cross-industry designers in the appliances, medical, consumer goods, and electronics industries.

Trinseo’s MAGNUM™ ABS Resins are manufactured with mass polymerization technology, a continuous process which makes the resins more advanced and enable them to bring significant benefits to both injection molding as well as profile and sheet extrusion applications.

Colors play a substantial role in purchase decision making and branding, but to create consistently high quality colored parts is never easy. Among the numerous benefits of MAGNUM™ ABS Resins, there are several attributes that enable them to provide distinctive advantages in self-coloring via color masterbatches: white base color, purity and cleanliness, excellent lot-to-lot consistency and excellent thermal stability.

MAGNUM™ ABS Resins contribute to ideal light and bright color parts

Unlike competitive resins that have a yellowish tone, Trinseo’s resins are much whiter in color. Similar to painting on a piece of whiter paper, as opposed to painting on a yellowish paper, less paint is needed and it is easier to achieve the desired color. Trinseo’s MAGNUM™ ABS Resins’ white base color is especially critical to enable successful coloring, contributing to ideal light and bright color parts.

When coloring a comparatively whiter ABS resins, less pigment is required which means it helps save cost.  The lot-to-lot consistency of MAGNUM™ ABS is another crucial element in successful coloring, as it requires less time to make adjustment to the machine. And to brand owners, when the color difference is minimized and becomes easier to manage color matching. This increases flexibility in sourcing its parts from different converters.

Nice color is not enough

Plastic products can turning yellow through time, such as a home air conditioner or bright white appliance, making it look worn out and old. The depreciation in aesthetic affects the image of the brand.

The key to maintaining color over time is the material’s performance in UV resistance. Compared to regular emulsion ABS resins, Trinseo’s MAGNUM™ ABS Resins demonstrate outstanding UV resistance that leads to significantly slower color change through time, which is particularly obvious for light and bright colors.  Trinseo has conducted several internal UV tests which demonstrate its materials superior qualities.

MAGNUM™ ABS Resins is proven to be a high performance, cost-saving solution to your coloring challenge.
