With the guidance of our Core Values, Trinseo has committed to living out our company mission through volunteering efforts and charitable contributions. We are focused on making a direct impact in the local communities where our employees live and work and educating and inspiring the next generation of professionals in chemistry and engineering.
Volunteer Days is an annual month-long community service initiative that brings together hundreds of Trinseo employees around the world to support their communities. Employees organize local volunteer events to donate their time, inviting their colleagues, family, and community members.
In 2019, 814 Trinseo employees and their families spent 3,545 hours volunteering at events in 24 locations across the globe.
Donating Food Bundles to Needy Families
According to the Food Bank Singapore, one in 10 Singaporeans are food-insecure. In light of this, Trinseo Singapore made donations to the charity in 2019, purchasing 50 food bundles containing rice, canned food, biscuits, milk, and cooking oil, among other essentials.
Providing Winter Shoes for Children in Need
Trinseo Shanghai made a donation to support the "Warmth Begins with the Step Program" of the "Shanghai Easy Charity Foundation." The donation included 2,038 pairs of winter shoes for children-in-need living in remote mountainous areas of Guizhou, Yunnan of China. Trinseo employees included hand-written greeting cards with the shoes to further spread joy and happiness.
Making Artwork from Recycled Polystyrene Materials
PT Trinseo Materials Indonesia organized an art class for SD Taruna Bakti, an elementary school in Bandung, Indonesia, in September 2019. Approximately 100 students participated in the class, where they learned about the science and recyclability of polystyrene foam food packaging. The students then created beautiful pictures from polystyrene-based food packaging waste.
Launching a Polystyrene Recycling Program in Indonesia
PT Trinseo Materials Indonesia partnered with Kemasan Group and Indonesia Plastic Recycle Association to launch a new polystyrene recycling program in Jakarta, Indonesia. Through this program, used polystyrene containers are collected and processed for recycling. The recycled materials are then used to make different kinds of new products, such as housings for remote controls, picture frames, clothing hangers, and more.
